I got that Steam driver update on the 22nd I believe and the current update on the 27th of February. I think I have the latest patch for the graphics in there, though I don't know if I have some of the stuff from the glitchy ATI driver update from Steam which was giving me similar issues only with a gray screen instead of a yellow one.
I was running the computer on High Performance on the Power Options section of the Control Panel. While the game demo itself was running smoothly, but during the first tutorial battle the computer suddenly froze and then the screen was a sickly yellow. I was told by the people at the Total War forums that my computer should be able to run Shogun 2 Total War on medium settings on my ATI Radeon 4670 card.
